NELLORE: Police on Sunday filed a chargesheet against Sarvepalli MLA and YSRC district convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy for producing forged documents to back his allegations that Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy had amassed wealth to the tune of `500 crore abroad.
In December 2016, the YSRC MLA alleged that Somireddy and his family possessed several properties in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
In riposte, Somireddy filed a case against Govardhan Reddy complaining that the documents produced by the Sarvepalli MLA were forged.
Govardhan Reddy had alleged that the TDP leader purchased 68.3 acres of land and other properties in Malaysia valued at over `40.50 crore. It was claimed that transactions to the tune of `180 crore were made since 2013 through several persons in the names of Somireddy, his son and wife.
The MLA also hinted at the TDP leader’s involvement in hawala transactions. The Police Department in its probe found that Somireddy had not travelled to the places at the times alleged by MLA.
