Restaurants told to make arrangements for disposal of waste water

The health wing of the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation has asked four restaurants on NH Bypass near Thondayad to make arrangements for proper disposal of waste water within one month.

An inspection by the health wing under the leadership of Health Officer R.S. Gopakumar found that the waste water from the restaurants, Sopanam, Pure South and Bypass Thattukada, was diverted to the nearby rainwater drains while the disposal mechanism in Albaik was found faulty.

The officials who inspected 12 meat stalls at Cheruvannur, Areekkad, and Kundayithodu found that meat was not handled scientifically and that they had violated the licence agreement.

The officials also seized outdated food items and juices from a few cool bars at Pushpa Junction. There were 45 packets of milk past expiry date and 8 kg of frozen sliced fruits besides sapota juice made on the previous day.

The freezers were found to be in unhygienic condition.

Health Inspector P. Sivan, Junior Health Inspectors KiranV.G., Majeed V.K., Stephan, Baiju K., and veterinary surgeon Shreeshma were part of the squad.
