Two youths attempt to kill schoolgirl in TN

TIRUPUR: Two unidentified youths attempted to kill an 11-year-old schoolgirl by slitting her throat at Nambiyampalayam in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
The incident happened when Monisha (name changed), daughter of a daily wage earner, was going to school with her friends. She is studying in a government middle school in the area.
Two motorcycle-borne youths intercepted her. One of them pulled her hands, and Monisha started screaming for help. Before anyone came for help, the youths slit her throat using a hacksaw blade and escaped from the spot.
Monisha was rushed to a primary health center for first aid. Later, she was taken to Avinashi Government Hospital where she was recovering, police said.
The Avinashi police registered the case and were investigating.
