BHUBANESWAR: Two persons were arrested by Commissionerate Police for attacking cops during a raid on illicit liquor outlets at Palasuni. The miscreants have been identified as Hadibandhu Routray (45) and Naba Kishore Nayak (42), both of whom were staying at Munda Sahi in Palasuni.

In a joint operation, Commissionerate Police’s Quick Action Team (QAT) and Mancheswar police raided the house of Routray where Nayak was also present. Routray and his family members along with Nayak attacked the cops with sharp weapons. Though Routray's family members managed to flee, police nabbed him and Nayak from the spot. Three swords and 190 litres of illicit liquor were also retrieved from the house. About 10 cases were earlier registered against Routray for various offences like theft, attempt to murder, selling illicit liquor, among others.A case has been registered under Sections of IPC, Arms Act and Section 52 (A) of Odisha Excise Act. The two were produced in a court on Sunday, Mancheswar police said.
