NEW DELHI: Auto majors such as Bajaj Auto (down 1.43 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 1.38 per cent), Tata Motors (down 1.33 per cent) and MRF (down 1.21 per cent) were trading in the red in Monday's trade, dragging the Nifty Auto index a little lower.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.15 per cent lower at 11,091 around 10.30 am (IST). Benchmark Nifty50 index was 0.29 per cent up at 10,176, while the 30-share Sensex was 0.18 per cent up at 32,449.

Bosch (down 0.82 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 0.81 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 0.50 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.31 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.22 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.17 per cent) were also losing in trade.

However, shares of Bharat Forge (up 2.05 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 1.43 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.65 per cent) and Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.49 per cent) were gaining in the trade around that time.

Sensex and Nifty pared opening gains as bank and auto stocks saw a fresh spell of selling.

Axis Bank, IDFC Bank, HDFC Bank and Canara Bank were losing in trade.
