Ujjain: Neelganga police on Sunday booked seven people for organising bull fights at Kaccha Masaan area near Hariphatak over-bridge on Saturday.
Those booked under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act include Dinesh Bhat, Deepchand Bhat and Ganesh Pasi of Jaisingpura, Vinod Pasi, Raju Bhat and Lakhan Pasi of Amber Colony and Shabbir of Begambagh Colony. Section 11 of the Act deals with beats, kicks, over-rides, over-drives, over-loads, tortures or otherwise treatment of animal that subjects it to unnecessary pain or suffering or causes or being the owner permits any animal to such treatment.
During the bull fights, spectator Shivlal Rathor of Kangalpura also sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment, where his condition was reported to be normal.
Though, bull fights were also organised at Jaisingpura, Piplinaka, Kanipura, etc, in the name of tradition, police station concerned did nothing to prevent these acts despite being in know of Supreme Court’s blanket ban on such events. No action has been taken against organisers of bull fights at these places.
