JAIPUR: AT least two minor girls died two others were seriously injured after a truck hit them at Dhaurasahi of Oriya gram panchayat under Sukinda police limits on Saturday evening.
The deceased are Nandini (4), daughter of Babuli Munda, and  Jiten (3), daughter of Rabi Hesa. The injured are Turuki (5), daughter of Keshab Munda, and Pradhani (6), daughter of Mochiram Munda. The injured girls were rushed to the local hospital and later shifted to Danagadi community health centre after their condition deteriorated.

All the four girls were playing in front of Babuli’s house, located close to the village road, when the accident took place. A speeding truck was passing through the village road connecting Sansailo to Mirigichara in Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex, when it hit the children, killing two of them on  the spot.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the driver was in an inebriated condition and had lost control over the steering wheel, leading to the mishap. The accused managed to flee the spot.
Following the incident, locals staged a road blockade keeping both the bodies on the road. They demanded stringent action against the driver and compensation for the families of the deceased. Police reached the spot and assured action against the errant driver. The blockade was withdrawn after the intervention of the police. Further investigation is on.
