Gondal Cong president accused of rape

Gondal: Gondal taluka Congress president Mukesh Patel (40) has been accused of rape by a 30-year-old woman.


The case in this regard has been registered with Virpur police station. According to the complainant, Patel had lured her with money and a promise of job and taken her to Junagadh. "On their way back, on October 17, Patel, who lives opposite Akshar temple in Gondal, took the woman to the outskirts of Kagwad village near Khodaldham temple in Virpur taluka of Rajkot district and allegedly raped her in his car," said Virpur police station sub-inspector M K Makwana.


After the crime, Patel dropped the survivor at her residence in Ghoghavadar village of Gondal taluka in Rajkot district and fled away. "After this, the woman lodged a complaint. We have registered a case against Patel and launched a manhunt for him," added Makwana.
