Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi joined the war of words over holding the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, saying he supported fellow BJP MP Ananthkumar Hegde's stand on the issue.

"I am also opposed to the celebration. Like Hegde, I will also urge the district administration not to include my name in the invite to next month's event.

"Tipu Sultan was anti-Hindu," the MP said, accusing the Congress of glorifying him for vote-bank politics.

Will go ahead with fete: Anjaneya

In Chitradurga, Minister for Social Welfare and Backward Classes H Anjaneya said they would go ahead with the fete, the opposition notwithstanding. He questioned the rationale of the MPs asking the district administrations not to print their names in the invites.
