‘We are champions’: Twitterati congratulates India on winning the Hockey Asia Cup 2017

Twitterati was all praise as India lifted the Hockey Asia Cup 2017 title after beating Malaysia 2-1 in the final.

India on Sunday beat Malaysia in the Hockey Asia Cup 2017 final to lift the title. The Indian team has remained unbeaten in the tournament so far and Twitterati was all praise on their wonderful run. India defeated Malaysia 2-1 to win the tournament for the third time. India had won the last Asia Cup title in 2007 and have been the runner-ups in the competition five times.

India scored from field efforts through Ramandeep Singh (3rd minute) and Lalit Upadhyay (29th) to dash the hopes of Malaysia, who were in sunmmit clash for the first time. The ever-improving Malaysians scored in the 50th minute when Shahril Saabah pulled one goal back.

The Indians, ranked sixth in the world, were in for nervous last 10 minutes as Malaysia went full throttle for an equaliser but they were not good enough for the strong Indian defence.
