Mahajan joins cops in paying respect to fallen heroes.
Indore : Tributes were paid to martyr police personnel on Police Commemoration Day on Saturday. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and others too joined policemen in paying tributes to their brothers-in-arm.
A function was organised in 15th battalion of Special Armed Forces (SAF) at Mahesh Guard Line to mark the day. Mahajan paid homage to all those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Around 383 police personnel were killed in line of duty during last one year ( September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017), including one from the state.
Commandant of 15th Battalion Anil Kumar Kushwaha read out names of martyrs. The staff, personnel and officers of 15th battalion, RAPTC, District force and Home Guard Platoons gave a salute of honour to their fallen brethrens. Members of civil defense paid tribute to martyr by taking out a rally. The function was organised under guidance of IG SAF Rakesh Gupta.
A large number of people from civil society and public representatives were also present. An exhibition on martyrs was also organised at the venue.
Mahajan and other public representatives also visited the exhibition. Police officers briefed Mahajan about the sacrifice of martyrs.
