The Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday rescued a seven member Indian crew from a sinking vessel.

The Navy rescued the seven member crew from a Maldives-bound Indian merchant vessel, which later on sunk due to some mechanical glith.

Earlier in the day, the Sri Lankan Navy apprehended four fishermen and seized one boat belonging to Thangachimadam, a central part of Rameswaram. The fishermen were apprehended near Kachadeevu Island.
