On Saturday, having received a tipoff, a CCB posse went to nab Rajadurai near the Acharya College in the early hours of the day.

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru police on Saturday shot and injured a rowdy-sheeter Rajadurai when he attacked a policeman in a bid to evade arrest. The incident took place in Soladevanahalli near Peenya.

The injured policeman and the rowdy-sheeter are being treated at a private hospital.

A senior police officer of the Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) said Rajadurai had been at large since being named as a suspect in a murder case a year ago. He along and his gang had attacked two men in Ramamurthynagar in two separate incidents. Three members of the gang were arrested but Rajadurai continued to elude the police.

On Saturday, having received a tipoff, a CCB posse went to nab Rajadurai near the Acharya College in the early hours of the day. Cornered, Rajadurai attacked head constable Narasimha Murthy with a dagger and inspector Prakash Rathod shot Rajadurai in the leg.

Rajadurai is wanted in several other cases registered in the Indiranagar, HAL, KT Puram and Byappanahalli police stations.
