Remembering Shammi Kapoor on his 86th birth anniversary

Shammi Kapoor grew up in a family that has huge respect for art and artists. Much like his father, Prithviraj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, grew up to be an actor. His spontaneity on screen was loved by the audience and he continued to entertain his fans for the next five decades.

Shammi Kapoor made his debut with Jeewan Jyoti in 1953.

He shot to fame with films like Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957), Dil Deke Dekho (1959) and Junglee (1961).

Shammi Kapoor comes from the illustrious family of Prithviraj Kapoor.

Along with his brothers, Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, he became one of the most popular actors of the time.

In his later years, he did films like Vidhaata (1982), Betaab (1983), Aur Pyar Ho Gaya (1996) amongst many others.

Shammi Kapoor's last film appearance was with Ranbir Kapoor in 2011's 'Rockstar'.

In a career spanning over five decades, Shammi Kapoor acted in more than 70 films.

He won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in 'Brahmachari' (1968).

Shammi Kapoor also acted in a few TV shows like Shikast, Chattan and Main Anari Tu Anari.

Shammi Kapoor passed away in 2011.
