7.65 mm pistol seized from serial burglar

A country-made pistol has been seized from a 30-year-old serial burglar in the city.

Narasimha Reddy, of Hosakerehalli, is an accused in 16 cases, including two murders. A history sheet was opened against him at the Girinagar police station after he was found involved in 14 break-ins.

On October 10, policemen on patrol picked him up when he was allegedly trying to burgle a house in Girinagar. Police sought his custody as they had information that he had an illegal firearm.

During interrogation, Reddy blurted out that he had hidden the pistol at a place he owns in Kaggalipura. Police took him there and recovered the 7.65 mm pistol along with live bullets hidden under a boulder.

Reddy has been booked for possessing an illegal firearm under the Fire Arms Act and for attempted theft.
