OnePlus 5T is coming soon, hints tweet by OnePlus co-founder

OnePlus apparently thought that the OnePlus 5 wasn't popular. So it is preparing to launch an update OnePlus 5T soon. At least that is what Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, tweeted a day ago. With his tweet, he also almost confirms that the OnePlus 5T is coming soon. How soon? For now, there is no definite that but rumours of a November launch are floating around. Earlier there was rumour of November 5 launch but that turned out to be fake.

But before we talk of the OnePlus 5T, let's see what Carl Pei said.

It's cryptic sure. But it is also clear enough if you read between the lines. Of late, OnePlus 5 is out of stock almost everywhere except a few markets like India and China. For example, in Europe that is an important market for OnePlus, the phone is no longer in shops. This apparently is happening because OnePlus is now gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5T. But this has also led to some hand-wringing among OnePlus fans who wanted to buy the OnePlus 5T. The tweet by Carl Pei reflects on this criticism that OnePlus is facing due to non-availability of the OnePlus 5T in most market.

With this out, let's talk about the OnePlus 5T. Although details are right now scarce, here is what we know so far.

-- The OnePlus 5T will launch in November. The global launch and India launch are likely to be simultaneous. Now this is for now a rumour. There is nothing confirmed about it. But given the fact that even OnePlus co-founder is hinting at a new phone, you can safely assume that the launch is near. If it all there is a delay, expect the OnePlus 5T to launch in December.

-- The design is going to be similar to that of the OnePlus 5, with similar rounded edges and metal body.

-- Given that this is a T update, similar to how the OnePlus 3T was updated variant of the OnePlus 3, the hardware of the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T will be similar. This means possibly the same dual camera system, same Snapdragon 835 processor, similar 6GB and 8GB RAM, similar 128GB storage, dual-SIM and other features that you get with the OnePlus 5.

-- One big change, however, that OnePlus 5T is rumoured to have is the screen. Unlike the 5.5-inch screen that is inside the OnePlus 5, the upcoming flagship OnePlus 5T is expected to come with a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and very thin bezels. The increase in the screen size may also help OnePlus put a bigger battery in the phone.

Other than these basic details, not much is known about the OnePlus 5T. However, don't expect moon from the new OnePlus 5T. If you already like OnePlus 5, you will like the OnePlus 5T even more. If you mind that OnePlus 5 has minor issues, it is possible that you may see those minor issues get fixed in the OnePlus 5T. But if you don't like the OnePlus 5 right now, chances are you won't like the OnePlus 5T.
