It is an open secret that Jeep is almost ready with the new-generation Wrangler, which will most probably be unveiled in early 2018. The new-gen Wrangler has been spotted testing multiple times in the past few months and from what could be made out in the spy shots, it does get a host of changes, making it look and feel more premium. The details in the leaked owner's manual confirm that there will be a 2.0-litre turbo-charged petrol and a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine which will be naturally aspirated. There might also be a mild hybrid system on offer as well. At present, there are no details for a diesel engine.

As far as transmission units are concerned, there will be a 6-speed manual along with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and two transfer case variants with the regular 2 high, 4 high, neutral and 4 low positions. The four-wheel drive mode will also have auto and four-wheel drive part-time (P-T). This helps the front and rear tyres to move at the same speed as per the brochure/owners' manual. The Wrangler will have unparalleled off-road ability, according to the company.

Coming to the interior, the Wrangler will get subtle updates to the upholstery and will be fitted with either a 7-inch or an 8-inch infotainment system. There will be smartphone integration on offer along with the FCA's (Fiat Chrysler Auto) UConnect interface. The interface will also provide all sorts of information when off-roading, such as oil-pressure, temperature, altitude, latitude/longitude and even the pitch and roll of the SUV. We are hopeful that Jeep will bring the new-gen Wrangler to India sometime in the middle of next year.
