LIMERICK >> Unit 2 of Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station was returned to full power Friday, ending a maintenance outage that began Oct. 9. Operators returned the unit to full power at approximately 4 a.m. Friday, according to a statement from Exelon Nuclear.
During the outage, technicians performed maintenance on a recirculating water pump and performed inspections and tests before returning the unit to service.
Unit 2 was manually taken offline Oct. 9 in order to make the repair to one of several redundant water pumps within a system that circulates water in the reactor.
Unit 1 remained at full power throughout the outage.
