KOCHI: In a major haul, the biggest reported in the state recently, the Perumbavoor police on Thursday evening seized over 110 kg of ganja from two vehicles, including a pick-up van and Ritz car,  near Vallom Bridge at Perumbavoor here. Three persons were arrested, with the involvement of more people suspected in the case. The seized contraband was concealed in specially built compartments in the pick-up van. Officers said the ganja was being brought to the city and the seizure followed a tip-off.

"We have beeen tracking the gang for quite a while now and it is a major racket. We are on the lookout for more persons  associated with the gang. There is also information about more quantity of the contraband being hidden. More details about the gang will emerge after the arrest of the accomplices," said an officer.
Earlier, after the police recovered the hidden contraband after accosting the gang, a crowd gathered there. The seized contraband was weighed by the tahasildar in full public view.

The police remained tightlipped on the details of the operation, including the names of the arrested, since a major manhunt has been launched for the remaining gang members. Officers said the vehicles used by the accused were also taken into custody. The accused have been charged under the NDPS( Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
