S.R. Savithri, retired professor in speech sciences, who served as the director of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) for more than four years and had recently demitted office upon her superannuation, has been reappointed as director of the institute.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reappointed her to head the institute for one year considering her services to the institute and the projects undertaken during her tenure.
Sources said projects such as centre for excellence, and speech and hearing museum, were in various stages of completion and her reappointment would ensure their successful completion at the earliest.
The Ministry has also laid emphasis on newborn screening centres and a few of them were launched recently.
Dr. Savithri assumed charge a couple of days ago.
She has over 25 years of experience in teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.
