It’s rightly said where there is a will, there is a way. Delhi boy Gaurav Arora, who rose to fame with Splitsvilla, made a buzz when she decided to undergo a sex change. Today, known as Gauri Arora, the young girl has made her presence felt with her participation in MTV’s reality show India’s Next Top Model. Talking exclusively to indianexpress.com, Gauri said, “I was so nervous when I participated in the show as I did not know how will I be projected. But everyone gave me a positive response and I am really happy and proud of the way everything turned out to be.”

With the show demanding the auditions in a bikini, Gauri further said, “I was apprehensive and sceptical of how would I manage to pull it off. Also, I was nervous about how my family would react seeing me in a bikini. And above all, I did not want people to say that I changed my sex only to show off my body. The idea that I might be labelled as vulgar was quite scary. But the way the judges responded has been quite encouraging. Now I am excited to see how my family will react seeing me there on the stage.”

Gauri, who has earlier participated in Splitsvilla as a boy, is looking forward to try out different things in life. “I am not a model and I participated in India’s Top Next Model only for sheer experience. It’s been just a year since I underwent my surgery and my body hasn’t recovered completely. I knew I will not to be able to carry with the competition and thus did not carry on with the show. My appearance in the show has given me a lot of confidence and I am now raring to go and win the world.”

Lastly, when asked if she has found her comfort in her new body, Gauri smiled to say, “Of course I am completely comfortable. For me, everything has moved too fast but I am really happy. All I want is that people take me positively and support me in my journey.”
