Porvorim: Health minister Vishwajit Rane said that he is in talks with private medical enterprises outside Goa, especially Tamil Nadu, to upgrade and add transplant facilities at Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim.
Some hospitals even conduct pancreas transplants besides lung and liver transplants, Rane said on Friday. Rane has been trying to revive the kidney transplant facility at GMC and hospital, Bambolim.
The GMC's kidney transplant procedure came to a halt after a senior nephrologist, Dr J P Tiwari, attached to the government hospital, took a sabbatical. Rane said Tiwari will be resuming from November 1 as head of the nephrology department.
