NEW DELHI: Slain Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya's sister on Wednesday accused her husband of involvement in the 22-year-old's murder.

"Harshita was killed by my husband because she was a witness in my mother's murder case," ANI quoted the sister Lata as saying.

The Panipat police are already investigating the role of Dahiya's brother-in-law Dinesh in the killing.

The singer-dancer had, in 2014, lodged a police complaint against him, accusing him of rape. The same year, she had accused him of killing her mother.

"Harshita's brother-in-law is charged with the murder of her mother. He is facing several criminal cases and is already in jail," said Panipat DSP Desh Raj.

Dahiya was shot dead on Tuesday by unknown assailants who fired five-six shots at her. The incident occured around 4:15pm, when she was on her way home to Narela in Delhi after a performance at Panipat's Israna.

She was accompanied by a male singer, her assistant and driver.

A video clip which shows Dahiya accusing some local artistes of threatening her had begun to do the rounds after her death.

"Some people from our industry, our own artistes from Haryana are threatening me over the phone to come to a compromise and delete the video, otherwise I will face consequences. I have not said anything wrong. Despite this, people are threatening me. I am not afraid of anybody. I will not delete our video... do whatever you want and I will not delete my live video. I am a Jaatni, and I am not afraid of death," she can be seen saying.

It is not yet clear which video she was referring to.
