Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial ‘Padmavati‘ is one of the most awaited and controversial movies of the year. The controversies over the film don’t seem to fade away as a group of 100 protesters shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ destroyed the rangoli poster of ‘Padmavati’ in a mall in Surat made by artist Karan K.

Karan was creating the beautiful art work ahead of Diwali after being inspired by the movie trailer and snippets. Little did he know that this would irk those against the release of the film. Sharing his agony and outrage, he posted the pictures of the incident on Twitter with the caption: “#padmavati Rangoli controversy! A crowd of 100 people cried JAY SRI RAM n rubbed out my 48 hrs’ intense work! @deepikapadukone@FilmPadmavati.” He also shared a letter addressed to the mall management by the staff saying that the ‘rangoli design of Padmavati will not be carried out in future.’

Such incidents are distressing, given that people have so far loved the trailer, teasers and posters of the film, which promises to be the grand cinema that comes with the signature opulence one expects from Bhansali. Meanwhile, few days after ‘Padmavati’s first poster, featuring Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini were released, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, an outfit of the Rajput community, objected to the nature of reference to Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) in the film. The outfit, which had previously objected to the portrayal of certain historical facts in the movie, burnt posters outside Rajmandir Cinema Hall in Jaipur. It was also alleged that they assaulted the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The magnum opus is slated to hit the silver screens on December 1. Fans have been drooling over the look of Deepika Padukone ever since the first look was released by the makers.
