MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today said that the AIADMK high command would decide about the candidate for the R K Nagar assembly bypolls.

Talking to reporters here, he said "our party high command will decide on who will contest in R K Nagar." The by-election to R K Nagar constituency was necessitated following the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on December 5, 2016.

He said he was confident that the two leaves symbol would be allotted by the Election Commission to the ruling party.

Panneerselvam said the government was taking serious steps to control the dengue in the state. "We are even conducting research to produce medicine for controlling dengue and eradicate it completely", he said.
