A West Bengal student received an offer of $100,000 (Rs 65 lakh) seeking his help to assassinate Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The 19-year-old student from Behrampore in Murshidabad district received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number from Florida in the United States. The sender told him that he was recruiting youths from across India and that good money will be given to those who join.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal CID has started probing the incident. The sender of the WhatsApp message, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, said, “We will pay you $100,000 for helping us. You will be safe don’t worry. Are you ready?” However, the student had asked the sender to wait. But the sender told him to hurry up and tried to lure him with money.

“Ok. Do fast or else we will choose another guy. Don’t let $100,000 go away,” the sender wrote. This communication occurred at 1.10 pm, following which the student wrote, “No, thanks.”

When the student replied stating that he was not interested, the alleged terror recruiter replied, “We have a contract to kill CM of West Bengal.” When he reached the Berhampore Police Station to complain, the officer present asked him to ignore it and switch his off his phone. Just as the student stepped out of the police station, he received a screenshot of his location from the alleged terror recruiter, who threatened to kill the post-graduate for reaching out to the police.
