Bhopal: A seven-month-old baby girl died after she slipped off her mother’s arms accidently from the fifth floor of a hospital on Tuesday noon. Seeing her child falling, the horrified woman too jumped off the floor, she survived. The incident occurred at Chirayu hospital at around 1:30 pm. The woman Akhilesh Kushwaha, a resident of Khanoogaon, under the limits of Kohefiza police station, had come to the hospital for the treatment of her baby girl Divyanshi. Her husband, Mahesh was at his workplace when the incident occurred.
According to SHO Khajoori police station, the woman was waiting for her turn to see the doctor at the ground floor. However, for unknown reasons, the woman with her child went to fifth floor of the hospital, With the child in her arms, the woman started strolling on the corridor. On reaching the end of the corridor, the woman started looking down, at this point the baby slipped accidently from her hands and fell down, police said.
Seeing her child falling, the petrified woman panicked and she too jumped behind her. The mother and the critically injured child were rushed to ICU. The baby succumbed to her injuries soon after. The woman suffered multiple injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Police and the hospital authorities are clueless as what made woman to go to the fifth floor of the hospital as she had no business there.
Dr Mangal Giri, a doctor with the hospital said that the child care facilities are available at the ground floor only and the fifth floor is medicine and surgery ward. What made her to go to that floor is to be ascertained, he added.
