Congress to field former MP Karan Singh Yadav for bypolls in Alwar

ALWAR: The opposition Congress is likely to field former MP Dr Karan Singh Yadav from Alwar parliamentary seat in the bypolls. Dr Yadav has already started holding meeting with his supporters. Alwar has a large concentration of Yadav community.

According to sources, the names doing the rounds for the BJP nomination are successor to Mahant Chandnath whose death necessitated the bypoll, Mahant Balaknath, Dr Yashwant Yadav, Sanjay Sharma and Rohitash Sharma.

As per Congress sources, now only the official announcement of Dr karan Singh is remaining as the party has decided to field the former MP. The party has taking a lead over the ruling BJP asked Dr Karan Singh start meet people trump up support for him and the party. Singh during his interaction with media said the party has asked him to go to the public and gauge the public mood.

He said, the people are supporting him. He said, former minister Jitendra Singh has been given the responsibility of chairman of the screening committee in Himachal Pradesh. Since the elections to Himachal Pradesh and by poll in Rajasthan are likely to take place almost same time Jitendra Singh may not be available for contesting elections from Alwar, said sources. It was with this consideration that Dr Karan Singh candidature has been considered. He said he will apprise the party of the feedback he received from the public.

Dr Yadav has been holding 'Diwali milan' programmes at various parts of the constituency in the last one week and Congressmen have been pledging support to Dr Yadav.
