GURUGRAM: A class XII student lodged a police complaint against a youth, who allegedly tried to rape her on Saturday while she was on her way to school in Manesar. The accused managed to flee after a biker reached the spot. An FIR has been registered in the case.
According to police, the 17-year-old girl was going to her school to bring her book, which she had left in her class. The girl claimed in her complaint that when she reached the school gate, an unidentified youth stopped her. The accused not only molested her but also tried to rape her.
The girl moved the women's police station on Sunday and lodged a complaint against the unidentified youth.
"He caught hold of me from behind. I immediately raised an alarm but he continued to pull me on one side. He tried to rape me but fled when he saw a bike approaching us. I don't know who he was but will be able to recognise him," the girl said in her complaint.
After receiving the complaint, the girl was sent to Civil Hospital for medical examination. As per the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the unidentified accused under sections 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Women's police station.
"There was a holiday on Saturday so there was no one near the school when the accused was trying to take advantage. We are trying to find the accused with the help of the locals and expect to arrest him soon," said sub-inspector Manjusha, the investigating officer.
