IIT Kanpur alumnus Damodar Gujjar (33), who is a resident of Malviya Nagar in Jaipur, has secured third rank in the RAS 2016 result announced on Tuesday. Gujjar who had a plum engineering job in Indian Oil Corporation quit in 2014 after realising that he needed to give something back to the society. "It was a difficult decision but I took it as I was confident about cracking the exam. Administration can shape the life of its citizens and a good administrator can raise the happiness level of his/her employees," said Gujjar.
Gujjar was born in Karauli and completed his studies from Jawahar Navodaya School in Gangapur city. He had no interest in civil services. A series of incidents compelled him to take up the responsibility to bring a positive change in the society. When asked about the change he will bring in the society, Gujjar says, first of all, he would like to see bureaucracy becoming sensitive towards its citizens.
"If the administration is sensitive towards it people, it can never take any wrong decision. I will call for citizens' participation in the every decision. It will not only bridge the gap between the administration and citizens but also help in better governance," said Gujjar.
