AJMER: Along with a series of announcements on Monday, chief minister Vasundhara Raje launched 500 mobile kitchen vans of Annapurna Rasoi which serve subsidised food across the state. Raje, along with her ministers Kiran Maheshwari and Anita Bhadel, had breakfast at the Annapurna Rasoi mobile canteen.

Launch of 500 more vans was done from Ajmer, which will soon have a by-poll for the Lok Sabha seat. The government is trying to give a message that it is worried for poor people, so serving them quality breakfast for just Rs 5 and lunch for Rs 8. She flagged off a van in Ajmer symbolically to start Annapurna vans in different districts of the state.

Talking to local reporters for the first time, Raje said she has directed officials to install 50,000 more LED lights in Ajmer. "Ajmer will have the brightest Diwali with LED lights and cheap but good quality food this time," said Raje. "Our government does not want anyone to sleep empty stomach; Annapurna Rasoi will certainly help poor people, labourers and rickshaw drivers," she added. The Annapurna Rasoi scheme was started by the state government on December 15, 2016 in Jaipur on the lines of Amma Canteens of Tamil Nadu providing food on subsidy.
