Two more persons, including a 26-year-old Manipuri woman, have succumbed to dengue in the Capital, even as the number of people affected by the vector-borne disease this season has risen to 5,220, as per a municipal report released on Monday.
With the latest deaths, the dengue toll in Delhi has risen to three. Dengue claimed its first victim in the Capital on August 1 when a 12-year-old boy died of dengue shock syndrome at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The report said that Rhoda Daimai, who was living in south Delhi’s Sarita Vihar, died on August 27 due to septicaemia and other complications. Meena Devi, 49, who hailed from Bihar, died of dengue shock syndrome on September 2.
The number of malaria and chikungunya cases recorded in the city till October 14 stood at 1,062 and 683 respectively, said the report by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, which tabulates the data.
