AHMEDABAD: Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG) has issued a statement saying that the advocates who do not pass the exam of Bar Council of India (BCI) will not be able to practice in any court of the state.
The statement issued by BCG chairman Bharat Bhagat and its disciplinary committee chairman Anil Kella stated that the BCI had in 2010 introduced the exam. There were 17,745 advocates from Gujarat who enrolled with BCG and started practising by obtaining a provisional certificate. Around 3,000 advocates from them are yet to pass the BCI exam. If these advocates do not succeed in the exam then they would be barred from practice and also will not get voting rights for the bar elections, Bhagat said.
