'Centre to sanction plastic park soon'

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar said the Centre will sanction plastic park to Mangaluru shortly.

He was speaking after distributing sanction letters to the beneficiaries of various Centre-sponsored schemes at Mudra promotion campaign here on Monday, he said the setting up of a plastic park will help in generating employment in the district. The Union ministry of chemicals and fertilisers ready to grant in-principle approval for the park within a week.

About 36 companies have already shown a keen interest in setting up the firm in the plastic park. Mudra scheme has helped in empowering the citizens. Loans worth Rs 3,50,000 crore have been disbursed among 8.40 crore people under the scheme.

Union Minister of State for Skill Development Ananthkumar Hegde said he will try to sanction Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology with the proposed plastic park for Dakshina Kannada.

The mere setting up plastic park will not serve the purpose. The institute will help in creating manpower required for the industry. Dakshina Kannada is ahead in lending Mudra loans to the beneficiaries, he said.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said a sum of Rs 16,500 crore has been sanctioned to Dakshina Kannada after BJP government came to power at the centre.
