Port workers to organise nationwide stir
TNN | Oct 18, 2017, 03:31 ISTVasco: The Mormugao Port and Railway Workers' Union has urged the union ministry of shipping to fill up the vacancies of chairman, deputy chairman and department heads of several major ports which have been lying vacant for many months.
Thousands of posts are being kept unfilled with a view to pave way to outsource these activities, said the federation's senior vice-president, Leonardo Rodrigues.
The union also expressed serious concern on the hectic action initiated by the government to outsource and privatize several activities of the major ports. They have also come out in supported of the joint decision taken by the Federations of Port and Dock Workers to organize a nationwide agitation against the Central government's 'anti-labour and anti-port policies'.
