Bhopal: Couples, families have made a bee line at JP Hospital to adopt the new born baby who was recovered from vicinity of state panchayat and rural development minister Gopal Bhargava’s residence three days back.
The baby is undergoing treatment in Special Care Intensive Unit (SCIU) of JP Hospital. Baby’s health is reported to be improving though she is still on oxygen support.
Few families have approached Matra Chhaya, a government-recognised orphanage, to adopt the baby. However, they will have to wait for at least two months, as Matra Chhaya will wait for biological parents to return and take care of her.
Dr Satish Maravi of JP Hospital, said, “Her health is improving gradually. People are coming to Hospital to know process of adoption. We will hand over the baby to Child Welfare Committee (CWC). And ultimately, authorised child care centres like Matra Chhaya and Kilkari will take care.”
Amita Jain, head of Matra Chhaya, said, “The baby will come to us through CWC. We will follow the set legal procedure. First of all, we will have to declare it legal-free. We will look for her biological parents. If no one stakes claim for baby, then we proceed to accept offer of on-line registered families who want to adopt. Entire process is completed through court. It takes at least three months. Rs 40,000 is deposited by the concerning parents to government corpus and Rs 60,000 is charge for completing formalities.”
No minister or official approached
It is surprising that families are approaching JP Hospital but neither minister nor officials visited JP Hospital to inquire about her health. Baby was recovered from posh area 74-Bunglow where ministers, officials live.
No CCTV camera
Though it is a posh area where affluent and influential people reside, no CCTV camera has been installed. Had CCTV camera been installed, those who had dropped or dumped the baby in bushes would have been captured in camera.
