NOIDA: At seven minutes past 6 on Monday evening, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were back home after four years. Not in the same flat where the dentist couple lived with their daughter Aarushi but the same society, Jalvayu Vihar.
"He did not say he wants to enjoy after he comes outside," said Dinesh Talwar, Rajesh's brother, speaking to the press at Jalvayu Vihar, after escorting the duo home from Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. "The day Rajesh was convicted, he told me, `I will fight this battle for Aarushi till my last breath'. He did not say he wanted to come out of jail.He wanted to clear his daughter's name," Dinesh added.
Moments earlier, Dinesh had watched news reporters trying to jostle with the Talwar couple when they were coming through the gates of the building where L-245, Nupur's parents' flat they went to, is located. "Please give them some time to get back to a normal life," he said. To a question on what their next step would be in the fight to get justice for Aarushi, he added, "Now if you want to do something, please do it. Whatever I could do, I have done and I request you, please give us privacy now."
Recounting that in the case, more questions were raised linking Aarushi and Hemraj than the parents themselves, he said it was hence that they fought for the duo. "We kept control on our emotions for four years as it was not easy to fight for the truth," Dinesh said. "We were always saying that Aarushi was a good girl and Hemraj was not a bad person. Only if you reverse that, can you say Rajesh and Nupur were responsible. But today , we only want to say none of them were guilty (this is a transla tion from Hindi, in which Dinesh spoke. What he meant is not clear but he was probably referring to conspiracy theories in which the characters of the victims were questioned)."
Dinesh said he has to support Rajesh and Nupur so that they can come to the mainstream again and restart their lives. "I cannot do more than this and I do not have strength in myself to do more. Nupur's parents are old and they need help and support. For five years, they did not have any support and now, we have to give them this support," he said. "The grief of losing Aarushi cannot go but till now, it was only suppressed. The grief will now resurface and that has to be handled too," he added.
Stating that Rajesh and Nupur were not in a position to give a statement, he said in some time, they would speak."What statement will they give? As of now, they are only trying to register that they have come out," he said.
The Talwars had requested police protection to escort them from the jail to L-245. A team from Sector 20 police has been deployed outside the house.
