Ahead of Dhanteras, sale of mid-segment vehicles soars

THE SALE of mid-segment vehicles reached its zenith ompared to luxury vehicles a day before Dhanteras from various automobile companies in Chandigarh. Owners and staff members of automobile companies maintained that though the response to the offers and discounts on mid-segment vehicles was encouraging, there were very few takers for luxury vehicles despite the lucrative discounts.

Alexander, marketing officer with CM Auto Sales, at Industrial Area, said, “We are supposed to deliver more than 50 mid-segment vehicles of different models to people on Dhanteras on Tuesday. And the booking queue for these vehicles for the coming days is more encouraging. More than 150 cars will be delivered till October 20, a day after Diwali.”

However, Sampat Singh, a principal dealer with Toyota, at Phase-1, Industrial Area, said, “The response of people towards luxurious and high-end vehicles is not very encouraging. We have booking merely 15-20 SUVs, which is not an encouraging figure in any way. There are so many reasons behind this. GST, demonetisation are among them.” Sources in the automobile sector maintained the sale of two-wheelers is also high because of Dhanteras.
