Posing problems to residents

Residents of Peerancheruvu and Bandlaguda as well as those living in the gated communities of VasathiAnandi and Giridhari Executive Park appealed to the senior officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department and also those belonging to Ranga Reddy not to grant any permanent licences to Sri Durga Wines and revoke the provisional/temporary license at the earliest.

In a representation made to Superintendent of Police C. Phani Kumar, secretary of the gated communities and other residents complained that the newly opened liquor shop was causing untold nuisance and hardship for the people living in the vicinity. They charged that the shop was located very near to two places of worship and also a high school which goes against the department’s own rules of not having such a facility within 100 metres. When two bars were shut down due to these reasons recently, there was no reason why should the wine shop be permitted, they asked. The residents stated that there were many street fights and brawls on account of people consuming liquor outside the shop making it unsafe for women and children to move around. Since, the department was yet to give a permanent license, Mr. Kumar and others urged it to desist from doing so.
