Market Now: Sensex, Nifty pare gains; Vedanta, Hindalco up 2%

NEW DELHI: Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty pared some gains but were trading in the positive territory after hitting the fresh lifetime highs of 32,687.32 and 10,242.45 marks, respectively.
Telecom, metal, FMCG, auto and oil and gas stocks registered decent gains.
The Nifty50 index was 26 points up at 10,193, while the 30-share Sensex was 46 points up at 32,479 around 10.55 am (IST).

Shares of Vedanta (up 2.26 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 2.06 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 2.01 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.79 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.77 per cent) and Cipla (up 1.69 per cent) were trading as the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
Bharti Infratel (up 1.58 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.50 per cent), Dr Reddys Labs (up 1.43 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.35 per cent), Bosch (up 1.32 per cent) and BPCL (up 1.14 per cent) too gained over 1 per cent.
However, IndusInd Bank (down 1.55 per cent), Axis Bank (down 1.05 per cent), RIL (down 0.63 per cent), Wipro (down 0.60 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.53 per cent), UltraTech Cement (down 0.25 per cent) were among the top losers among the Nifty stocks.
Over 50 stocks, including APL Apollo Tubes, Bata India, Bombay Burmah, HDFC Bank, Hindalco Industries, IG Petrochemicals, Bharti Infratel, Jindal Steel & Power, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Majesco, Reliance Industries, Sobha, Tata Steel, TVS Motor Company and Bharti Airtel hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Monday's trade.
On the NSE, 946 stocks were advancing, compared with 644 stocks declining and 387 stocks remaining unchanged.
