Metal, auto and realty stocks appeared bullish.
NEW DELHI: Shares of Reliance Industries (Rs 430.15 crore), IndusInd Bank (Rs 125.99 crore) and Avenue Supermarts (Rs 114.43 crore) were trading as the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in Monday's early trade.

Bharti Infratel (Rs 105.55 crore), Bharti Airtel (Rs 96.69 crore), Hindalco (Rs 71.25 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 62.84 crore), Idea Cellular (Rs 52.15 crore), Vedanta (Rs 50.89 crore), Kotak Bank (Rs 49.19 crore), HDFC (Rs 43.59 crore) and Tata Motors (Rs 43.39 crore) were the other major stocks in that league.

Equity benchmarks registered a strong opening today, tracking positive global cues.

Sensex jumped over 250 points, while Nifty50 hit a record high of 10,242.

Metal, auto and realty stocks appeared bullish.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 68 points up at 10,236, while the 30-share Sensex was 241 points up at 32,674 around 9.40 am (IST).

In the Nifty index, Vedanta (up 2.05 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.71 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 1.67 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.63 per cent), Cipla (up 1.48 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.39 per cent), Ambuja Cements (up 1.24 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.22 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (up 1.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

However, IndusInd Bank (down 2.31 per cent), Wipro (down 1.27 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.22 per cent), Axis Bank (down 0.21 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 0.03 per cent) were losing in the trade.

On the NSE, 1157 stocks were advancing, compared with 381 stocks declining and 427 stocks remaining unchanged.
