Reports of singers Akriti Kakar, Ankit Tiwari and Shilpa Rao being named in a cheating case had surfaced on 15 October. Kakar has now issued a statement in a Facebook video, presenting her side of the story. The singer has said that she has never met the complainant, Deep Vora before and that there has only been one transaction between her and him, which was for another concert she did in the United States.
Deep Vora has alleged an FIR against the three singers, claiming that they took an advance payment of Rs 30 lac for a show that they never did. Kakar asks Vora for concrete proof which could validate his statement — call records, a written contract that's made between the artist and the organisers, or a single message.
Claiming that there isn't any trail of communication between Vora and her whatsoever, she urges him to stop making allegations.
According to the singer, she along with the other people named in the FIR have tried to speak to Vora but have not been able to get in touch with him. She questions Vora's allegations, and asks him why he waited for two years to come out and lodge a complaint for an event that wasn't there on paper.
The other two singers are yet to respond to these allegations.
