BENGALURU: Four people, including a pregnant woman, were killed after a three-storey building collapsed due to an LPG cylinder explosion in Bengaluru. The incident took place in Circle Gundappa Layout in Ejipura, early morning on Monday and four bodies were taken out from the debris. Few others are also suspected to be trapped in the heap of debris.

The deceased are identified as Saravana (31), his wife Ashwini (27), who was eight months pregnant, Kalavathi (68) and Ravichandran (45). Two others, Hariprasad and Kalyani were severely injured in the mishap and they were rescued and taken to a private hospital.

Fire and Emergency personnel rushed to the spot and four of the bodies were taken out and shifted to hospital for postmortem. The fire officials said that the incident occurred around 6.50 am when an LPG gas leak led to an explosion. The three-storey building, which is more than 30 years old collapsed due to the explosion. Three families lived in the building.

Three fire personnel Suresh, Somashekar and Subash were also injured during the rescue operation as a portion of the wall collapsed on them. They were rushed to a private hospital, the officer said.

The family members of the deceased said that there were cracks in the building and the owner Gunesh did not bother to fix it when they repeatedly complained about it.
