The process of site allotment at Rabindranath Tagore Nagar (R.T. Nagar) here will be completed with the allocation of site numbers and issue of allotment letters to beneficiaries by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday.

Those whose names figured in the final list of allottees will receive the site number and allotment letter at a programme to be held in R.T. Nagar from 11 a.m. On receipt of the allotment letters, the beneficiaries will have 90 days’ time to pay the balance amount for the site.

In all, 1,683 sites have been allotted out of a nearly 88,000 applications pending before the MUDA. Out of these, 631 plots are of 20x30 ft dimension, 705 sites are 30x40 ft, 276 are 40x60 ft, and 71 sites are of 50x 80 ft dimension.

It will mark the culmination of an exercise, which began more than 20 years ago as there were legal hurdles over land acquisition.

Described as one of the model layouts developed by MUDA, the preliminary notification for acquiring 801.14 acres of land was made on July 27, 1997 but the final notification for acquiring 274 acres was made on March 29, 2001 and the final award of 217.38 acres was announced on February 4, 2003.

The MUDA has spent over ₹136 crore for the development of the layout, including the cost of land acquisition.
