In an exclusive interview with India Today, Finance minister Arun Jaitley today explained the cascading effects of note ban and GST on the Indian economy.
"On the account of lack of understanding or tainted political motive, you have people coming and speaking as though this predictable period is some kind of an economic crisis. Was it that during the UPA regime, India was among the fastest growing economies. Not once," he fired.
He further added, "And here, we have been regarded as the fastest growing economy for three years in a row- so this has to be taken in context of the global economic health at that time. During a boom period, economy can grow by 8-10 per cent but during crisis, if the economy grows by 7-8 per cent consistently, then it is in good capacity."
