Sandalwood wants a Baahubali from stables, believes Yash can do it

Yash is no doubt a hot favourite with Sandalwood now, particularly after his stellar performance in films such as Masterpiece and Mr and Mrs Ramachari to name a few. He has even managed to win hearts outside the state and across languages.

The actor has now signed up to portray a character markedly different from what he has done so far, in the magnum opus set in the seventies and eighties, KGF. The movie’s shoot has been progressing smoothly for the last few months and the project, directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, is being touted as the most expensive film from Karnataka. But the latest from its sets is that Yash and the team is planning to take the movie to a whole different level, they plan to release it in five languages and in two parts.

Though the news of the movie being released in parts has been doing the rounds for the past few years, the production house has been taking time confirming this. Our source says, “Whenever there has been a magnum opus, period drama made with a limitless budget and a strong story, the directors have preferred to bring the movie out in two parts. Take for examples movies such as Rakhta Charitra, Gangs of Wasseypur and the latest Baahubali have followed this pattern and have succeeded, we will have KGF from Kannada”.

Our source, close to the team, says that work on the movies in five languages has been progressing and the team is seeing an impressive demand for their audio, satellite and distribution rights across south Indian languages and in Hindi. It is drawing a never-before-seen demand for its Hindi audio and satellite rights. Film traders are hoping that this will be the next biggest from south after Baahubali.

Our source adds, “The traders are confident about the business this movie will see and they expect it to be in the range of Baahubali, and big companies are lining up behind the cinema. Yash is a popular artiste across industries and has a huge fan following even in north India, with his films being dubbed in Bhojpuri and Hindi. His star power will also carry KGF forward”.

In this movie, the actor has also joined hands with Prashanth Neel, an  added advantage. The director, who has proven himself with his first film Uggramm, has made a an effort with KGF. With Yash playing Rocky, the film has a cast which includes Srinidhi Shetty. It has music by Ravi Basrur and cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda.
