AmeriHealth Advantage Expands into Six Northern New Jersey Counties with the Addition of RWJBarnabas to tier 1
AmeriHealth New Jersey today announced that RWJBarnabas Health will join tier 1 in AmeriHealth Advantage, expanding the plan’s reach to six additional counties in Northern New Jersey, effective January 1, 2018. AmeriHealth Advantage will be available for individual members and group customers based in the following counties statewide: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset, and Union County.

AmeriHealth Advantage members will now experience an enhanced benefit—lower co-pays and out-of-pocket costs—when they obtain services from RWJBarnabas Health’s Physician Enterprise and RWJBarnabas Health’s acute care hospitals.

AmeriHealth New Jersey pioneered the use of tiered networks for consumers in the state in 2013 with its first hospital partner. Over the past five years the success of this model, which establishes a more collaborative relationship between a payer and a provider, has enabled the company to expand AmeriHealth Advantage from three to 13 counties as its list of tier 1 hospital partners continues to grow.
RWJBarnabas will also be tier 1 for AmeriHealth New Jersey’s Tier 1 Advantage plans, available in 20 out of 21 counties.
