NAVI MUMBAI: The CCTV footage of a 34-year-old woman biker coming under a crane after skidding on the road near Utsav Chowk in Kharghar on Saturday has gone viral on the social media. This has prompted residents to question if the contractor, who had undertaken the road work should be held responsible for the death of the mother of two.
The video shows victim Shilpa Amit Puri skidding on the road before coming under the hydraulic crane.
The video was posted on Facebook by a CBD resident, Vinay More. The post has received several comments from citizens holding the road maintenance contractor responsible. This is despite the crane driver being arrested for negligent driving.
"The CCTV footage clearly shows that the woman was riding on the extreme left lane and skid because of uneven concrete work on the dug-up road. She was wearing a helmet but that didn't save her." said More.
