Veere Di Wedding team react on reports about tiffs between Sonam Kapoor and Kareena.

Multi starrer Veere Di Wedding has been one of the most awaited films of Bollywood. And why not so? Veere Di Wedding not only stars a number of leading ladies of B-town — Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania but it also is being produced by Sonam’s sister Rhea and Ekta Kapoor. Complete girl gang fun, right?

The stars and makers too have made sure to keep us up-to-date with many photos and videos from the sets. They recently wrapped up the film’s first schedule in New Delhi and thus the social media pages of all the Veere Di Wedding stars are filled with the wrap-up photos. But it looks like a few ‘blind items’ that suggest some ugly tiffs between the star cast by a leading celebrity blog have left the team in a bad mood.

The team issued a statement today, saying, “Dear websites, you can put out as many ‘blind items’ as you like pitting women against each other, it may get you clicks but it won’t be the truth. Must you insist on shoving this tired patriarchal concept of women catfighting into our film (which is not about a road trip) as if grown, intelligent women have nothing better to do. We will continue to be actual friends and try and make a kick-ass movie and prove that women can work with each other, get along and have a blast. Because we can, we are and we will continue to be.”

Earlier, a blind report from Pinkvilla read, “This movie revolving around a road trip is certainly going through its fair share of problems. First, it had a delayed start because of finances and then its leading lady got pregnant delaying the film by months. And now the film has started shooting but we have heard of a catfight between the leading lady and one of the actresses in the film, whose relative is producing it. The best part is they have been acting the best of buddies for the entirety of the schedule!”

While it’s not difficult guessing who Pinkvilla is talking about, the makers haven’t confirmed if their statement was aimed at the blog. But Veere Di Wedding cast has certainly taken a strong stand against reports of women being pitted against each other on the sets all the time.

Veere Di Wedding, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, is touted to be Bollywood’s first major chick flick and will hit the theaters sometime in 2018.
