A man who called up the railway police helpline on October 11 claiming there was a bomb in a Chennai-bound goods train was arrested the next day. Using details from the telecom service provider, the police found that the phone number used to make the call was registered in the name of a carpet shop owner in Thane.

Samadhan Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Railways), said when the shop owner was traced, he said he had got the SIM in his name for an employee named Ajay Chaubhey (38). The police then traced Chaubhey who claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol when he made the phone call to the railway police helpline. Chaubhey was arrested and booked for spreading rumours.
